Do we need a Christmas cookbook?

Most of us have our go-to recipes for the holidays, from turkey and gravy to the Christmas Ham. So the question is, ” Do we need a Christmas cookbook?”. After we had the opportunity to review the Christmas Feasts and Treats by Donna Hay our answer is a loud and clear yes!

This is a beautiful book, full of the charming, modern photography for which Hay has become known. Just flicking through it will get you in the holiday mood. As the title of the name suggests, the book is divided into “feasts” and “treats”. Being the first part dedicated to snacks for your holiday party as well as Christmas dinner. The second one includes everything from dessert to edible decorations and candies to give as gifts.

In this book, Hay offers instructive, traditional recipes for your turkey, ham and more, but also some creative options and some that will work for smaller Christmas crowds. We know that you might not want to make a change with a new turkey preparation method, but the side dishes are a good way to start trying new things.

Cultural Differences

One of the things we could not fail to mention in this review is the cultural differences. As we are talking about an Australian book, you will find some different Christmas traditions. There’s a lot of seafood, and dessert pies are replaced with trifle and pavlovas. But besides these differences, the rest of it is very relevant to North American holiday celebrations.

If you’re stuck in a holiday rut, hosting for the first time, or just looking for ideas, Christmas Feasts and Treats will provide a lot of festive inspiration.

Final Thoughts

For us, Christmas Feasts and Treats cookbook was a total surprise. At first, we were skeptical about it, but after the first pages, we realize its full potential. The objective of this book is not to change people’s Christmas traditions, but to help improve them. Whether through easy and delicious recipes or useful save-timing tricks.

Summary

Christmas Feasts and Treats is an amazing cookbook with easy and delicious recipes that will help you to transform your holidays.
