The summer is here, which for us means only one thing, homemade ice cream! One of the essential things to make delicious ice cream at home is a good ice cream machine. In this week's equipment review, we team up with Cuisinart Spain to bring you their new Cuisinart Iced Dessert Maker.
We know that you have been asking us for an ice cream machine with auto freeze, but before we bring you the "pro stuff" we want to share with you, what we believe to be a great entry model. Part of Cuisinart's Style Collection, the Iced Dessert Maker can be used to make ice cream, sorbet, frozen yogurt, or fruit blends. Simply pre-freeze the bowl overnight and have your favorite frozen desserts ready in as little as 25 minutes.
For us, there is no substitute for homemade ice cream. You can experiment with different flavors, add your favorite toppings, and have total control over the ingredients. Whether you want to try out vegan or dairy-free ice cream or simply just reduce the sugar content in your recipe, it couldn’t be easier.
The Cuisinart Iced Dessert Maker isn't just for ice cream - you can also freeze yogurt and mix sorbets. This unit comes with two distinctly different paddles, one with two angled arms for churning ice cream, the other has six to mash, and churn fresh fruit for smooth or chunky iced desserts. The special frozen fruit paddle will blend down soft ingredients like banana, mango, and berries as it freezes to give you a healthier frozen dessert made only from fruit.
Making frozen desserts with this unit couldn't be simpler! Simply pre-freezer the 1.4-liter capacity bowl, prepare your ice cream base and ingredients and you are ready to rock.
Using the Cuisinart Iced Dessert Maker is very straight forward. To putt the machine parts together you simply need to clip the paddle into the holder and with a quick twist of the locking bar, everything is secure. The unique feature of this machine is that the bowl rotates, not the paddle, so it’s essential to lock the lid into place for it to work safely.
To start the churning process you just need to press the on and off button. Once churning has started, you can use the see-through lid to add other ingredients like nuts, chocolate or caramel.
After you've made a frozen dessert, washing up is simple because both the paddles and lid are dishwasher-friendly.
Over the past weeks, we have been doing all kinds of iced desserts. In fact, we already have shared some of these desserts like our Coffee Ice Cream. Although we have been using the Cuisinart Iced Dessert Maker for making different types of desserts we've been focusing more on ice cream.
This unit produces delicious sorbet, frozen yogurt, and fruit blends, but the ice cream gets the best results. If you pre-freeze the bowl accordingly to instruction (16 to 24h) and if you use a cold ice cream base, you'll achieve excellent results.
The ice cream produced by this unit is super smooth, practicality without any ice crystals. With results like this at home, you'll never want to go back to the store-bought ice creams.
