Today we are back with another article dedicated to cast iron but this time with a different approach than usual. Instead of reviewing a specific product we will share with you our experience with the Lodge Enameled Cast Iron Collection, especially with the 6-quart Duch oven and the 3.6-quart Casserole.
If you already had the opportunity to read one of our previous reviews of any Lodge products, you’ll know that we really like this brand. They produce great cast iron cookware, at a reasonable price. Lodge’s tradition of excellence continues as they combine cast iron with the beauty of porcelain enamel.
For us, this combination couldn’t work better! On one hand, you have the superior heat retention of cast iron, which produces great results. And on the other hand, you have the enamel surface that allows food to be marinated and refrigerated.
We couldn’t review the Lodge Enameled Cast Iron Collection, without mention the classic Dutch Oven. This all-purpose pot that is perfect for slow-cooking, searing, braising and more. We have been using the 6 Qt and the results have been excellent. Its enameled cast iron build is valued for its heat-conducting properties, ease of use, and simple maintenance.
We have been using our favorite size the 6-quart pot for a while and are impressed with how versatile and easy to use it is. For us, the small details are what make this Dutch oven so good. First, this model has bigger handles than most of the Dutch ovens on the market, making it easier to carry around. Second, its slightly curved shape keeps food from getting trapped in the corners, and its shorter sides and width allow for better searing, which means more flavor into finished dishes.
The performance of the Lodge Dutch oven is something that stands out. For a product that costs almost 4 times less than its main competitors, its performance is incredible. It cooks food evenly and consistently! We have been cooking a lot of different things such as Beef Stew, Fried Chicken, Ragu, and the results have been delicious. Even for baking sourdough bread, this dutch oven is great!
Cleaning this Dutch oven is also very easy! It is dishwasher safe, but handwashing with warm, soapy water and a nylon scrub brush is recommended by Lodge to preserve the pot’s original appearance. Luckily, handwashing this pot is super easy, you will simply need a warm and soapy sponge to make your Dutch oven like new.

Use it to broil, braise, bake, or roast in the oven up to 500° F (260 ºC)
Use to marinate, refrigerate, cook, and serve
Great for induction cooktops
The Lodge 3.6-quart casserole is another great enamel cast iron product that we really like to use. It has all the same features as the Lodge 6-quart Dutch oven, but with a different shape.
The different shape of the casserole gives you the ability to cook different recipes. Sweets like Cinnamon Buns, Apple Crumble, Chocolate Cake or even Blueberry Cobbler work perfectly in this casserole. But you can also cook much more than just sweets, we love to make our Chicken and Rice Casserole or even our own Spanish Paella.
To clean this casserole, you simply need to follow the same instruction if the Dutch oven. A warm and soapy sponge is all you need to make your casserole brand as new.
