For all the coffee enthusiasts out there we have good news for you! In this week, we are back with another coffee equipment review, his time with the Aeropress Review.
The AeroPress coffee maker is a new kind of coffee press that brews coffee under ideal conditions: proper temperature, total immersion, and rapid filtering. This results in amazingly delicious coffee with a wide range of beautiful flavors but without bitterness and with very low acidity. The AeroPress is most commonly used in the home kitchen but it is lightweight, compact, and durable, making it ideal for use when camping, backpacking, boating, or just traveling.
Since its introduction, the AeroPress has become a much-beloved brewer for serious coffee lovers and coffee professionals around the world.
The current model of this brewing system has four essential parts: the plunger, the seal, the chamber, and the filter cap. It also comes with a funnel, a stirrer, a scoop, a filter folder, and 350 filters. To use the AeroPress, you simply need to attach the seal to the plunger, add a paper filter to the cap, and set the chamber onto your cup or mug. Add your ground coffee to the chamber, add some hot water, insert the plunger and then press the plunger toward the grounds until you hear a hiss.
Once you’ve ground your beans and heated your water, making coffee with the AeroPress with the recipe on the box takes less than two minutes. That recipe produces about 4 ounces of a full-bodied concentrate; it’s not quite espresso, but you’re encouraged to dilute with hot water before drinking, kind of like an Americano.
Although it seems too simple, this device has been embraced by countless coffee professionals and enthusiasts, providing one of the quickest ways to brew a single cup of coffee.
One of the main strengths of the Aeropress is its compact size. It’s small, compact, durable and lightweight enough that you can easily fit it into your regular backpack and bring it to work or on a trip. However, the small size also means that the Aeropress is in some way limited in its capacity. If you are just brewing for one or maybe even two persons that’s no problem. But if you are trying to serve coffee for larger groups it becomes more challenging.
Another feature that makes the AeroPress perfect for traveling is how easy it is to clean. You just need to press out the used grounds and then you can wash and dry your brewer, or if you prefer you could put it on the dishwasher. But this is not all, unlike a glass or ceramic pour-over dripper, the plastic AeroPress is basically “unbreakable” so you can use it anywhere without worrying about breaking it.
As we already mentioned in other coffee articles, there many different ways to brew coffee. But is difficult to find a brew method faster than this one. The AeroPress method, in general, it’s a device that has more in common with the pour-over method rather than espresso or the French press.
This comes down to using a paper filter that blocks out many of the coffee oils from entering the final cup. A lot of people, including us, like this because it enhances the more subtle coffee flavors.
