This equipment review article is one of our favorites of all time! We already had the opportunity to review many kitchen equipments, but we never had a knife review. So we team up with the incredible guys at Misen to bring you the Misen Kitchen Knife Review.
The first time we heard about Misen we knew that we have to bring them to you. Very similar to our philosophy, Misen wants to help people cook better. The idea behind their philosophy it’s very simple – fresh ingredients, simple techniques, and quality tools. We can’t agree more, with this simple 3 elements you can achieve astonishing results.
Misen focused on producing products with incredible quality, and sell it for a fair price for the consumer. Lucky for us they do exactly this, by cutting out the traditional retail middleman and selling directly to us they offer incredible quality and wholesale pricing.
The first moment we saw the Misen packaging arrive at our headquarters that we knew that this review would be interesting. Before start talking about the knives we need to talk about the packaging. You know Apple right? Now imagine if Apple produced knives instead of iPhones. This would be their knives! Simple but elegant design, make Misen packaging one of the prettiest we ever have seen.
But you came were to see what we have to say about this knifes so let’s start with misen kitchen knife review! Misen knives are made with AICHI steel, offering a great balance of sharp edge retention and durability, with 60% more carbon content than other “premium” knives.
The essentials knife set has 3 different knives: serrated, paring and chef. The serrated knife has a blade with 9.92 inches (25.2 cm) and 33 deep and pointed tips with wide serrations for optimal “bite” and smoother cuts. The Chefs knife Combine the best features from both Western and Japanese-style blades, and with 8.22 inches (20.9 cm) is enough for everything you need. And finally, the perfect companion to every chef knife, the Misen paring knife, with only 3.2 inches (8.1 cm) will allow you to tackle all of the precision cuts and fine-detail work in your kitchen.
Knives are arguably the most important tool in a kitchen, and you can do a lot with only a few quality tools. Instead of replacing upper-level knives for a third of their cost, Misen seems to have created a particularly great mid-range knife sold at the cost of a knife of noticeably lower quality. In other words: Misen’s knives are a great deal for the average person.
On the same day we received the knives, we went to the supermarket and picked up a bunch of groceries to start our journey of tests. For these tests, we bought different products from bread to vegetables, and even meat and fish. After a few straight hours of using these knives, we were surprised by their comfort. But the comfort was not the only thing that surprised us!
Unlike most Western-style knives with angles of 25 degrees, Misen uses a more acute 15 degrees, which make these knives extremely sharp. The sharpness of these blades is really incredible, you can cut almost everything like soft butter! All of these 3 knives performed incredibly well on our tests. These knives are so good that they now become our go-to knives in the kitchen.
After testing the Essentials Knife Set we came away impressed by the versatility and precision of the set. Misen has found the perfect middle ground between the crappy $20 knife and the crazy price tag of the blade that the chef on your favorite cooking show uses. In our opinion these knives are perfect for home, they are extremely sharp, comfortable to use, the best part it won’t break your bank.
So if you are looking for a new set of knives to replace your old ones, the Misen Essentials Knife Set is your best choice.
Misen Essentials Knife Set is a premium and affordable set of knives, that will last you a lifetime. Extremely sharp, great build quality, great comfort, and control make this set of knives one of the best you can find on the market.
