In all our cookbook reviews we always try to bring you something new. We have already review, BBQ Cookbooks, Indian Cookbooks, Restaurant Cookbook and much more. But this time we bring you something completely different from what we’ve ever brought. So, for this week review, we decide to bring you The MeatEater Fish and Game Cookbook.
This incredible cookbook is from the host of the television series and podcast MeatEater, Steven Rinella. This is the long-awaited definitive guide to cooking wild game, including fish and fowl. From one of the most respected and beloved hunters in America, this cookbook is exactly what the fans of his MeatEater show and podcast have been asking.
Before we jump to the review we leave you with the trailer of the new season of MeatEater!
Steven Rinella is best known for his MeatEater podcast and Netflix series. But in this cookbook, he proves to be as skilled with a pan as he is with a gun. The book is pretty straight forward. Starting with venison and ending with shellfish, the 100 recipes on this cookbook, call upon all sizes of game, fowl, and fish. More than recipes you also have photo-enhanced instructions on gutting, skinning, and butchering, along with taste charts that explain the different flavors and textures of similar animals.
The recipes range from simple dishes, such as dove jalapeño poppers, to more complex dishes such as seared goose breast with apple cherry, and sage chutney. The nose-to-tail approach in this book incorporates everything from bullfrog legs to duck hearts. If you are those who are seeking a taste of the wild this is a must-read cookbook!
One of the best things about this book is that in addition to great recipes it also gives us incredible hunting tips. Starting with Big and Small Game, you will learn the best techniques and strategies for butchering and cooking all types of animals, from big black bears to the smallest squirrel.
In this book, you will also learn how to make the most of available waterfowl. Ranging from favorites like mallards and wood ducks to more challenging birds, such as wild geese and diving ducks. With a wide variety of butchering methods for all upland birds, plus recipes, including Thanksgiving wild turkey.
Another two great topics in this cookbook are freshwater and saltwater fish. In these chapters, you will learn the best practices for cleaning and cooking virtually all varieties of fish. More than fish you will also learn how to prepare great meals from wild clams, crabs, crayfish, mussels, snapping turtles, bullfrogs, and even sea cucumbers and alligators.
In our opinion, this is one of the best wild game cookbooks ever made! Whether you’re cooking outdoors or in the kitchen, at the campfire or on the grill, this cookbook will be an indispensable guide for both novices and expert chefs.
The MeatEater Fish and Game Cookbook is for sure one of the best game cookbooks ever made, that will leave both novices and expert chefs impressed
